The Brachiosaurus skull shown here is based on a three-dimensional digital scanning of the original, making it absolutely identical to the fossil. The very, large mires under the thin arch of bone is striking. The actual nostrils of the living animal were at the front of the snout and not on top of the skull as was often assumed previously. The large hollow behind them probably functioned as a resonating chamber to produce sound.
